Investment analyst Matthew Atkins joined REDD in 2023 from luxury property management Bold and Reeves, where he worked in corporate fundraising and business strategy. At REDD, Matthew oversees the sourcing, underwriting and execution of investments across REDD’s portfolio of prime residential properties.
We spoke to Matthew about his career to date, his role at REDD, and how he likes to spend his time outside of work.
1. What motivated you to pursue a career in real estate investment?
I’ve always been interested in the full development lifecycle and I felt that the investment side gives you good exposure to this. On a daily basis I work with banks, investors, architects, costs consultants and a range of other professionals.
2. What is your role at REDD and what does a typical working day look like?
My role focuses on underwriting new investments and ultimately buying the asset if the bid process is successful. My usual day consists of a mix of meetings, site viewings and modelling new opportunities.
3. What is your favourite part of your role at REDD and what’s the most challenging?
My favourite part is working with a range of professional consultants. We’re lucky at REDD to work with some of the best in the business and it’s a really rewarding experience when we bring together all these different businesses into one project
I would say that managing multiple workstreams and bid processes is the most challenging. As part of a small team you get great exposure to all parts of the development lifecycle but that also comes with its challenges when we go into a busy period.
4. What is your proudest professional achievement to date?
Completing on 41 Upper Grosvenor Street at the start of last year was a big achievement. I’m really excited to see how the project is progressing and we’re looking forward to bringing to market an exceptional residential scheme.

5. If you had to give one piece of advice to someone starting a career in real estate, what would it be?
Real estate is a large industry with lots of sub-sectors so definitely make sure you fully understand which part of the industry you want to get into.
6. Which REDD project are you most looking forward to seeing completed?
I’m really looking forward to seeing One Palace Green completed later this year. Bringing forward an apartment scheme on Kensington Palace Gardens is a really rare thing and also seeing the tireless work that the development team has put into this project is incredible.
