REDD MEETS: JAMES JACKSON, DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR AT REDD

What's your role at Redd real estate, can you tell us a bit about your background?

I have recently joined REDD as the Development Director, with a background spanning over 20 years in the real estate industry. Playing a key role in significant developments across the Middle East, the US and Europe, I hope to bring my expertise in strategy and management across REDD’s newly acquired projects.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities?

As the Development Director, I oversee all stages of project inception, from the initial concept through to sales, working closely with key stakeholders. One of my primary goals is to drive the expansion of REDD’s portfolio into new markets, ensuring we are always at the forefront of the right opportunity. Equally important, I’m focused on building a dynamic team that will not only grow with REDD but also embody the company’s broader mission and objectives.

Which REDD project are you most looking forward to completing?

I am most looking forward to the completion of 6 Charles street. Since joining REDD I have been heavily involved in the strategies and sales of this project, it is an exceptionally beautiful development and rare in size for its area. More to come on this project soon…

What is your favourite part of the job?

Working with the REDD team. Across the team, we all have the ability to think strategically, but then roll up our sleeves to get things done. Both are key attributes when working in a small entrepreneurial team and everyone has them in abundance.

What is the most difficult part of the job?

REDD is growing as a business and it is always a challenge when transitioning through this growth stage to ensure the correct systems and procedures are in place whilst also keeping the REDD entrepreneurial flare. We want to remain a boutique Client focussed business whilst growing different work streams. We are constantly working on this strategy to ensure our focus remains on Client’s and the Developments whilst we continue to push and grow the business.

Quick fire round:

What is your favourite thing to do to unwind on the weekend? DIY/carpentry. Any excuse to get myself down to B&Q!

What is your proudest achievement to date? It sounds a bit cliched, but definitely my family. Anyone with young children knows that it is a bit of a rollercoaster through the early years, but it is great to see them develop and grow. It’s also nice they are now at an age I can take them round the golf course!

‍Favourite place in the world? Maldives without question. You can’t beat the isolated islands, white sand and turquoise waters. No better place to be to switch off and wind down.

What is your one piece of advice to someone starting out their career in property? Embrace all aspects of the Development lifecycle and try to get experience across as many aspects as possible.
